About Christina

Hi, I’m Christina! I’ve been an SLP for over 15 years now, and within the past few years, I’ve learned a lot about Artificial Intelligence (AI) as I helped my husband with his business.

As time went on, I started using AI to help me create beautiful, personalized therapy materials for my own students!

I’m passionate about helping SLPs increase their comfort level with AI and learn how to use it ethically to make their practice more efficient and to make their therapies more personalized and motivating for their students and clients.

I really started using AI quite a bit in the pre-Chat GPT era (circa 2022)! I used to use a program called Jasper AI (and it’s still pretty good, but it’s specialized for marketing now) to help me write faster. I’ve never been one to just use anything that AI has given me right out of the box – I know that everything AI creates needs to be human-edited and double-checked (by a human!) for accuracy.

Over time, and as AI got better, I started thinking about how I could use it to make my therapy materials better and more personalized for my students. First, I came up with some prompts that helped me create word lists faster and better than I could do it myself.

Then, I figured out how to use those word lists, along with some of my students’ preferences, to create adorable, motivating images that I could use in therapy sessions!

Join me as I share what I’ve learned with you!

AI can never take over an SLP’s job. As my one-time professor Dr. Megan Hodge (way back in 2004!) at the University of Alberta famously said:

Dr Hodge SLP quote

AI doesn’t have the heart or the skills to be a Speech-Language Pathologist. But, when AI is used ethically, it can truly make our lives easier and our work more effective!

Let’s use AI the right way to help us effect change in the world!
